Waygo - Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Translator App Reviews

The Korean translations for this app are ridiculous. Always gibberish, and nearly always food... even if you arent looking at the words yet. It will translate the surroundings into nonsense, and completely fail to translate real words.

The program works a lot better than you would expect. I build a lot of Japanese model kits that come with easy to follow step by step instructions, but the side tips, color codes, and other miscellaneous information is in Japanese. I use Waygo to translate this and find it to work quite well.

This app has horrible translation. Most of the time it translates a word into food even if it has nothing to do with food. If you want luck in Korea translations avoid this app and try google translate. Still not terrific but much better than this app.

Often the app has trouble reading the text. But even when it can, the translations are often hilariously off. For example, "definitely" in Japanese became "sea bream". Nice concept, but wouldnt dare to use this in real life. Also, the 10 trial translations are quickly consumed when the app is rapidly reading and translating gibberish as you center the camera on the text.

Overall, an amazing technology. We didnt need to use it as much as we thought we would, but it at least gives you a general idea what the meaning is (finding out the dish is some sort of chicken, for example). Pretty cool to use.

So easy to use and quite fast, it recognizes very well the Chinese characters and helps a lot to understand the menu!!! Just arrived in China and So cool to have this application ! Now it would be great to extend the data to all basics Chinese words! Thanks!

Just tested in a restaurant in Shanghai, easy download with 3G, no more "ting bu dong"... Perfect!

Downloaded the free version and made a bad choice of getting the full version at the same day. Lost 6.99 as this c*** does not work. Cant recommend any other app but this one does not work at all.

Since they added the long requested photo translate feature, I am more than happy with this app. I use it mainly to translate restaurant menus in traditional Chinese characters and it makes my life as an expat in Taiwan without strong Chinese skills a lot easier.

It would be great if it worked! Since I downloaded it including new update, it crashes while opening. Does it work for others? I am using the iPhone 6.

A very useful tool to study the Chinese language. The characters of the pinyin text should be bigger, to see the strokes of the tones more clearly.

Would really like to see this app work when it doesnt crash. iOS 6.01 iPhone 5. Cleared all apps from memory and even cold booted phone, the app wont stay running for more than a couple of secs. Please fix.

Works pretty much like described, which us pretty amazing. Tends to crash a lot as it tries to scan tho. Would be great if you could also use a still snapshot or a photo library images to read.
