Biased toward food translations

(Only used Chinese option) In general, it works very well. The live mode is an especially nice feature. However, the recognition is biased toward providing translations for food items. It does recognize basic items like "street", "hotel", "reservation", "man", etc, as well as numbers, but specific names of places are left untranslated (i.e., you cant really read a map with it).

Works great for menus

Ive mostly used this for menus and it is really excellent. A lifesaver I you dont want to play menu roulette!

One of my fav chinese apps

Had this app for a while now. New version looks awesome. Love the fact that you dont need to be online for it to work.

Disappointing at best

Tried to use the app prior to my trip to Shanghai and on my trip last week. Issues with the program focusing on the characters. Forget using it with a map or if other characters are close. Character detection took too long or timed out (this was while at home on broadband wifi)

Not even a little bit

This app immediately crashes after I choose Chinese as my target language, then each and every time I attempt to open it after that.

Great for translating menus

Worked like a charm on menus during a recent trip to Taiwan. Awesome!

Awesome OCR

Works great in live mode. The in-image replacement mode is clunky and not useful and mostly a gimmick so I dont use it, but the regular mode makes up for it. I wish I could click through to Pleco though since the translations arent always that great. Its an OCR app, not a comprehensive dictionary. Pleco integration would make it awesome.

Blah

App bites. Only three languages. No European languages.

Very Useful

Its good for those moments when you need to quickly translate something. Vertical mode would make it even better.

Essential app for China, Japan, Korea!!!!

Wish I would of had this years ago. It’s offline, instant translation on menus and signs. It really works, I just point it at a menu and boom I can understand everything. It’s been a life saver and all of my friends use it now. Really amazing technology, great job!

Awesome useful vision app!

Used it 100 times a day during my week in China to read street signs, store names, menus, and product descriptions. My hosts were impressed and as a by product I got to learn a little more Mandarin every time I launched the app.

Now I can read Chinese!

App keeps getting better. Better looking and smarter than ever. My go to app for practicing reading Japanese and Chinese. Hopefully, one day I can visit one of those countries and try it out in the wild.

AWFUL

Dreadfully horrid, have your own experience

Horrible

Use google. Fatty tuna for air conditioning settings? Wow. What a rip off

TOTAL LIFESAVER!!!

I live in Taiwan, and use this app almost every day to help read Chinese. It works on various kinds of signs, but is most reliable for menu reading. If youre going to be in any Japanese or Chinese-speaking places, YOU NEED THIS APP!

Useful app

Been using this to translate books and menus from Chinese to English on the fly and it works great. Best feature is that it works off line so no need to worry about internet connections when overseas.

Life saver

Just moved from Texas to Shanghai and this app saved me from getting my electric cut off because I was able to read the bill. So easy to use. Love it.

Doesnt work

Doesnt work, waste of time. Also freezes, unable to exit out of photo mode etc. useless.

Very helpful

The offline function is very helpful when traveling! Very good app!

Way to go!

From what I have tried for translating Asian text, this is the best one by far. Useful tool when traveling.
